After graduating from Keio University's Faculty of Science and Technology with a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, I joined Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. After 13 years of service, I moved to General Motors in the United States in search of opportunities for international work. I was involved in a joint venture project between Opel and Suzuki Motor Co., Ltd. After working at GM for nine years, I returned to Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and spent another nine years working with Nissan. In other words, I have seen Ghosn's before and after.
Through that experience, I learned a great deal about the dynamism of large corporations, as well as the incurable problems unique to them.
The company name, Bethyself, is actually the name of an in-house newsletter that Nissan Motor's research and development department published monthly for its employees during the 1980s and 1990s. Be-thyself means "Live true to yourself." I think it's a wonderful phrase.
A company is a collection of people, but I believe the ideal company is one where each individual pursues what they want to do, achieves self-realization, and contributes to the company's growth .
